William Dam Seeds established

William and Maria Dam start out at their kitchen table in Sarnia, Ontario.

1959

A new home base

The family and seed business moves to our current home outside of Dundas Ontario.

Late 1960s

Switch to exclusively untreated seed

William Dam decides to sell untreated seed due to a reaction he had to chemical treatments.

2000

Organic seed is added to the catalogue

The first shipment of certified organic seed arrives in house from Italy in December 1999.

We maintain trial plots so that we can be familiar with the products we sell, try out new seed varieties against proven varieties, and understand the challenges sustainable production methods present such as insect control or weed suppression.
