About our seeds
We limit our warranty to the vitality and purity of
seeds in the year stated on the back of the packaging, to the full amount of the purchase price.
We only sell seed that is not chemically treated this means the seed has no seed treatment applied to its seed coat. Some of the seed we sell is also organic this means that during its production, while the seed crop is growing in the field being harvested and processed, it is not exposed to any prohibited chemicals. We are certified by CSI (Centre for Systems Integration) for the Canadian Organic Standards (COR). The organic seed we sell meets Canadian Organic Standards (COR) and USDA’s National Organic Program (NOP) standards.
We have formed relationships with many excellent wholesale seed companies over the last 70 years who supply us with seed. These companies are committed to high quality seed production, seed breeding, germination standards, purity and seed health.
All seed lots arriving in house are certified by accredited third party labs for germination and purity. We verify the germination of our seeds at our on-site seed lab on regularly. Our warehouse is climate controlled to maintain quality.
Genetic Modification
It is our company policy to not sell Genetically Modified Organisms. It is a highly regulated industry and the products are not available to home gardeners or small market farmers. If your certification board needs assurances, a letter is available.
We have signed the Safe Seed Pledge which states:
Agriculture and seeds provide the basis upon which our lives depend. We must protect this foundation as a safe and genetically stable source for future generations. For the benefit of all farmers, gardeners and consumers who want an alternative, we pledge that we do not knowingly buy or sell genetically engineered seeds or plants. The mechanical transfer of genetic material outside of natural reproductive methods and between genera, families, or kingdoms, poses great biological risks as well as economic, political, and cultural threats. We feel that genetically engineered varieties have been insufficiently tested prior to public release. More research and testing is necessary to further assess the potential risks of genetically engineered seeds. Further, we wish to support agricultural progress that leads to healthier soils, genetically diverse agricultural ecosystems and ultimately healthy people and communities.
Growing guarantee
Seeds are living things that are subject to growing methods and conditions for their performance, therefore we cannot guarantee their results. If you have troubles germinating our seed, please contact us immediately (not at the end of the season) so that we can help you with a solution. As gardeners ourselves, the germination rate and purity of the seed are of utmost importance to us. The germination rate and purity of our seed exceeds the requirements set forth in the Canada Seed Act. It is our policy to notify you if a problem exists or develops with any particular lot of seed. The seed that we sell is meant to be grown in soil or professional media, using good farming practices. We are not a source for seeds meant for human or animal consumption. If you are not satisfied with any of the other goods that we sell, please contact us so that we can arrange to exchange or refund it within 30 days of purchase.
